Winning Vault
I have been working on a little video conversion / backup project lately. Today I came across some video that, believe it or not, I had never seen before. It is video of the NCAA Indoor Track Championships in 2002 that my Mom took. I edited a small portion of it to show my winning vault at 18′.
The best part of the story wasn’t caught on film. Immediately after I won the meet and they did the ceremony I was whisked away for a drug test. I had been through several drug tests and was actually looking forward to this one – I actually had to go to the bathroom this time since I was drinking water continuously throughout the meet … (oh boy is this bringing back memories). On a side note, this is not your typical pee in a cup scenario. Since there have been so many ‘false samples’ given they are forced to watch your urine leaving your body. Anyway – I gave my sample just fine and then went back to ‘look’ at it with them at the desk. The guy looks at it (in a hand-held microscope thing) and says: “This is pure water, we can’t use this sample”. Well, needless to say I was pretty unhappy with that response – but there was nothing I could do – except sit around for about 3.5 hours eating granola bars and Gatorade until my ‘sample’ was concentrated enough. I was literally the last one to leave the building and missed all the post-meet festivities. Bummer. I was so excited from winning the meet (reaching my all-time pole vault goal) that it didn’t really seem to matter much.
iPhone
I am weak… the forces that be (Apple) have complete control over me. I broke down and bought an iPhone… which I had been fighting off for the last 6 months because I didn’t want to switch off of Verizon. Pathetic.
Ok, confessions aside – I am LOVING this little bundle of joy. It not only can do more than any phone I have ever owned (by far) but it does it in Apple fashion – simple and pretty. Since I am a mac user, everything syncs beautifully – which is a huge bonus for me. And, thus far, I have been very pleased with AT&Ts coverage.
The only problem I am having with it is continuously having to pry it out of Sydney’s hands
. I am planning to put a bunch of ‘fun’ things on Kristie’s so Sydney will ask for hers!
