Happy Birthday Allie!

Posted in Family by Jeff Hansen on the June 27th, 2007

My little Allie turned 1 year old yesterday! We will be having a big party tonight… where she will be keeping the tradition alive by getting a full cake to play in / eat until her heart is content. Mom was up late last night getting it just right.

Everyone says she looks just like me… you be the judge.

Love you Allie :)

Too Much Golf?

Posted in Family,Personal by Jeff Hansen on the June 27th, 2007

Is it possible? I have picked up the game this year and have become pretty much obsessed with it.

I bought some nice TaylorMade clubs which have been working out nicely (shout out to Mitch for letting me borrow his while I was figuring out what to buy).

I have been getting in about 36 holes a week – on average. I had a punch pass for the Spanish Oaks Golf Course, but I was going through them rather quickly so I went ahead and bought a 5-day season pass. Now that Kristie is picking it up as well we added her onto my season pass. She is getting better too… and we are part of a couple’s league that plays each Friday night.

Seeings this is our first year, we are still pretty pathetic by some peoples standards. My best so far for 9 holes is a 42. I have a goal to get into the 30′s (39) before the year is over… I’ll keep you posted.

Busy Month Of June

Posted in HiValley,Personal,SafeTrax by Jeff Hansen on the June 23rd, 2007

Been a bit – there has been a lot going on in our neck of the woods.
USCold
I just got back from a trip back east. I flew into Philadelphia and met up with SafeTrax partner Sandie. We met the following day with United States Cold Storage at their corporate offices in Cherry Hill, NJ. It was decided that it would be beneficial for us to visit one of their facilities up in Bethlehem, PA the following morning.

Anyway, we had most of a day to burn, so we headed up to New York City. Now, this was my first visit to the Big Apple you see. I had this picture in my mind (I think we all do) of what it is supposed to be like. Surprisingly, my mental picture was pretty close…. until it came to the World Trade Center site. It is hard to comprehend the size and magnitude of the destruction without understanding the surroundings. WTC Site So, I got off the subway and walked down the street… TALL buildings consuming every inch of every block – I am talking huge buildings (bigger than the barn back home). Claustrophobic. Then there is this huge… hole. The size of the hole and empty space contrasted with the enormous buildings surrounding the area was stunning to me. There were all these people just running around – meaning like going in and out of the subway station there, and just going about their daily lives… as though nothing ever happened there – just so used to it at this point. For me everything went quiet, zoned out and had a moment of pretty deep reflection. It was quite the experience… The picture was taken behind a bunch of netting, so that is why it blurred.

Then went on to see Madison Square Garden, ESPN Zone :) , Times Square, Statue of Liberty, etc. Overall, it was a pretty interesting place to visit. I wouldn’t have cared to stay any longer, nor do I care to return there, but am glad I can check it off the list…. whatever sense that makes.
Orioles
Anyway, from there we went to Bethlehem for our meetings. After that I headed back to Philadelphia to drop Sandie off at the airport before continuing down to Baltimore. I got to spend Friday through Sunday with my brother Jared and his family. It was a great time, we got to: ride the light rail, attend an Orioles game, eat some tater-tot casserole, play with the computers, almost beat Zelda (almost pulled and all-nighter), went to church, etc.

So… that was the trip back east in a nutshell.
LAND
The other bit of exciting news is that we are in the process of buying some land. The land can be viewed here. It is 5.25 acres in Payson, UT. Currently it is an alfalfa field. Actually it is about 15 minutes south of where we currently live. It has been our dream to get out of the city and back to our roots a bit. While the deal is not complete, it is looking good. So, I’ll keep everyone informed. Either way, we will have to build on it, etc… so we won’t be going anywhere for a while…

Just a side note – SecurityTrax is doing great. We are adding adding adding.

Till next time…
