How not to blog

Posted in Rants by Jeff Hansen on the September 8th, 2008

There is nothing more annoying than someone making blog posts that simply state: “I am sorry, I am so far behind… but I will be making a big post shortly …”.

It is better to just post something when you actually have something meaningful to say… save me the trip to your site (thank goodness for my RSS Reader).

I’ve never been so happy in my life…

UN-love Story

WebExOk, about 6 months about Sandie and I decided that we need a web conferencing solution. Due to some extraneous circumstances we didn’t have much time (like 1 day) to decide who to go with. Due to some referrals we checked out webex. They had the product we needed so we talked to a sales representative and told him were were a small business and that we would be doing maybe 1 or 2 webinars a month… and that we were looking for the best deal for that scenario. So, we get ‘hooked up’ at 375/month. We thought it was pretty steep, but honestly, we didn’t have time to find another solution.

Well, the other day I call up webex to cancel out my contract… my 6 month contract. I tell them that I am being charged too much for my usage, etc, etc, etc. The webex salesman says, “I can get you the exact same service for $75 per month”. WHAT!!@#(%(! He said that we had ’5 hosted accounts and it was obvious that we only needed one’. Wow, the blood is starting to boil – I have WASTED $1200 dollars! I was up-sold like CRAZY. The salesman admits that I have been up-sold as well… there is no question about it. So, the next obvious question is how many free months of service am I going to get for this injustice – well 1200 / 75 = 16 months right?! Think again. They pretended to care – but not enough to do anything about it … at all.

Salon / Barber Shop Boycott

I’ve tried for about the past 2 weeks to get in and get my hair cut. I have called one place in particular religiously to see if they are busy or if I can make an appointment. Two times I have called and been told there was no significant wait, only to show up a minute later and find myself about 45 min – 1 hour deep in the queue.

So, logical next step: Boycott them altogether… cut my own hair.

My Cadillac CTS is real-wheel drive. What is up with that? It really doesn’t help when there is a foot of snow on the ground… glad I have a Chevy Silverado as a backup.

I benched 360 this week… thanks to some SuperPump 250 (wife cringes).

I have still been coaching the vault at BYU. It has been going rather well. Believe it or not I actually vaulted for the first time in 4 1/2 years a week or so ago. I jumped on small poles from a short run… but I think I surprised some people, including myself.

Looks like I’ll be traveling to the BYU track meets to coach.

My brother Jared and his family flew in from Baltimore last week. They were supposed to leave 3 days ago for Denver. Thanks to the weather there they won’t be getting there until the day AFTER Christmas now.

SafeTrax signed 2 companies up this month.

AlarmTrax added a customer as well.

Battlefield 2 is a great game… especially when you are playing it when you don’t really have time to get all your real work done. Here are my stats.

I spoke in church last Sunday. Topic: Faith, Hope, Charity. Went well, glad its done.

The MacBook Pro is treating me awesome.

A good reason NOT to like this time of year…

golden corralYet another bad experience at Golden Corral.  They have it right, this is the gold standard for a corral (1.an enclosure or pen for horses, cattle, etc.).  It is kind of like McDonalds, everytime I go there I swear it is the last time.

Comprende?

SubwayThe slogan at Subway is ‘Eat Fresh’. I sure would love to, but when the people taking my order can’t speak english… that sort of hinders the whole ordering process. Como? Comprende?

I wish my buddy Chuck Norris would have been there with me… roundhouse, I bet they would have understood that.
